They go through an identity crisis every couple of years trying out new things even though all we fucking want is a properly executed NFS 2015, which also ironically kind of tried to be the remake of Underground 2 we were hoping for. NFS games just haven’t felt like NFS games, which is why I feel like they suffer so much. It just feels so fucking right, it feels like Skate. Im fairly sure that were Codemasters to lead a NFS project, the game might suck on many fronts as they do not have much experience when it comes to open-world driving game, but one thing I would feel it would confidently get so right, is how the driving feels.Īnd honestly, I can forgive a shitty story, a shit soundtrack and clunky mechanics when it comes to like progression things, but if the driving feels right and it’s what I’ve been looking for since (and im not joking here) NFS Underground 2, and there are no micro-transactions (of the egregious kind), I can easily see myself pouring hundreds of hours into that kind of game.įor example the new Skate game, sure it’s F2P, sure it’s gonna have micro-transactions, sure it might have a cringey-ass story that makes me feel second-hand-embarrasment, but after trying out the leaked build of the game, i can confidently say that the game will be one of my most played games when it launches. It feels just weighty enough to give a sense of realism, but also retains that level of floatiness for the arcadey fun-value, which is what NFS is about. They clearly like money and if they put even a little bit of effort into it (give the project to a studio that knows driving games, like i don’t know, CODEMASTERS), I’m just so sure the game would slap so fucking hard.Ĭodemasters hasn’t made a game even close to a game like NFS, but their physics engine in their Dirt-games is SPOT-on what a game like NFS: Underground 2 Remake needs. ![]() To this day, I will not understand how EA hasn’t grabbed the opportunity to remake their older NFS titles. To this day I think it was the physics and the weird cutscenes, but the aesthetic was there. NFS 2015 came SO close to greatness, but something about it felt wrong to me.
